A known issue has caused OneDrive and OneDrive for Business to notoriously crash after installing recent Windows 10 updates. Luckily, Microsoft has released out-of-band updates to address this problem.
One of the common issues with OneDrive is that it can sometimes stop working after logging out, unlinking accounts or sites, and deleting folders from Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
Microsoft has found a fix for the Outlook disabling Teams Meeting add-in problem.
OneDrive might unexpectedly close after installing KB5018410 and other future updates, Redmond said in a Windows health dashboard update on Friday.
Affected users might experience issues with any of the following:
Sign out of your Microsoft OneDrive sync app or unlink it from your account.
Make sure your device isn’t syncing with your SharePoint and Microsoft Teams sites.
Uninstalling the OneDrive
“Microsoft is releasing out-of-band updates today, October 28, 2022 for some versions of Windows,” the company said in a Windows Message Center notification.
“If you are not encountering the issue described in Microsoft OneDrive app might unexpectedly close, you do not need to download or install these out-of-band updates.”
The installation is a manual process and is not autocorrect.
This known issue was fixed with the emergency KB5020953 cumulative update that will not be delivered through Windows Update or installed automatically. To get the fix, you will need to turn on Automatic Updates.
OneDrive had been crashing for some people after uninstalling it or signing out of the account. It stops working when you unlink your device, stop syncing files, or sign out of your account. Microsoft fixed this problem today.
Installing this program manually is not recommended, as you would have to download it.
This Microsoft update is available for Windows 10 [20H2], Windows 10 [21H2], and Windows 10 [22H2].
Windows server admins can import this update manually through the Windows Server Update Services, which is a part of Microsoft’s Endpoint Configuration Manager.

Microsoft also issued out-of-band and optional preview updates to address an issue caused by this month’s security updates, which caused SSL/TLS handshake failures.
