Microsoft is working on a way to share files between different devices. If it’s successful, this will mean you can share files between Windows, Android and even Mac devices.

Drop is a feature that adds an extra functionality to the browser. It will soon be in the Canary build of the Edge browser, where it’s currently being tested.

Microsoft Edge will soon be getting a drop feature, which you’ll use to transfer files between your computer and phone.

Interesting, instead of a file browser type UI, Microsoft went with something that looks a little like Messenger. You can send files by dragging & dropping them, but you can also send messages – handy if you want to leave a note about a particular file or send yourself a reminder.

Recently, Microsoft added a new features to Drop that allow you to take screenshots and add notes and reminders. This allows you to take even more detailed notes than before.

Microsoft is working on bringing the Drop file-sharing feature to Edge for Windows 10. This will make it easy for Windows 10 users with mobile phones to send files and documents back and forth between their PC and handheld device.

Phone Link does local transfers. It’s a front end for OneDrive that lets you send and receive files without downloading them to your device first. This allows them to download faster and makes it easy to share with others on your team.
The advantage of using Phone Link instead of just OneDrive is that the interface is more convenient for those who primarily use Edge as their web browser.

Another great thing about OneDrive is that it syncs automatically with all your devices, so you’ll always have access to all of your files from anywhere. This will simplify sharing as well, because you won’t need to upload the documents to each device separately.

If you want to test out the beta version of this product, you must first download Edge Canary on Windows and on Android.
