As reported by TechCrunch, Microsoft is bringing Fluent UI to Android. The advanced theming system of Android 12L will allow Windows to look more like a Windows-based non-exclusive laptop that is used on the Surface Duo and Surface Duo 2.

Microsoft redesigned the notification shade, Settings screen and activity feed in its launcher to match Windows. Icon sizes and colors have also been unified with that design language. Many other UI controls also feature blur effects to contrast it with the flat surface of many icons.

Windows developers team up with the Surface Duo

With the Surface Slim Pen now supporting the Duo 2, the pen can now provide similar functionality as that of a Microsoft Surface PC. It comes complete with shortcuts for relevant apps.

Microsoft Teams just got a few upgrade! You can now transfer a meeting through the Time widget, and performance and battery usage were improved by offloading the heavy lifting to hardware acceleration.

Another great feature is the new conversations widgets. You can now put certain chats on your home screen for quick access. Plus, we’ve added a new widget to show photos from OneDrive!

If there’s one thing we do well, it’s giving you control. So all the usual Android 12L improvements are on board, including status bar indicators for your camera and microphone, plus a privacy tracker that records apps that access your camera or microphone or tracked your location when they’re not allowed to in the last 24 hours.

Manufacturers will release the October security update on November 6th. See if this update is available for you by going to System > System Update.
