Slack Updates Platform at Dreamforce
-Replaces the noun in the headline with one that is singular
Several new features in Slack were announced this week at Dreamforce, including a new canvas feature, slack huddles are now generally available (GA), and tools for developers on Slack.
Check out some of the new features that Slack is introducing for next year. First, the company recently introduced “slack canvas,” a feature which allows users to create and curate resources in one screen without actually opening up other apps. Additionally, this feature will allow users to aggregate data from systems of record onto the same screen. Additionally, they will be able to refresh data and make updates directly in this new feature without needing to switch apps.
The company went GA with Slack huddles, a feature revealed last June and which lets users join audio meetings in any channel or direct message. Now, video will also be supported within Huddles, and users can also screen-share simultaneously. And information shared during – and saved in – a Huddle will automatically appear in the channel or DM where it started.
The company revealed that the new Slack platform is available to developers in open beta. It now features development-friendly features like a new command-line interface, software development kits, reusable functions, and the ability to add a link trigger to workflow.
