Microsoft has been working on unifying its OneNote and OneNote for Windows 10 apps into a single app, now called OneNote. With over a year of improvements and the latest improvements, there’s only the OneNote app listed in the Windows store.

Over the past year, Microsoft has been merging OneNote and OneNote for Windows 10 into a single app. Recently, they’ve also given the desktop version a makeover from the UWP Windows 10 version. This is great news for people who want to take all of their fantastic notebooks with them everywhere, digitally.

Now that Microsoft has launched Windows 10, version 1809, OneNote for Windows (1709) will no longer be available in the Microsoft Store. You can continue to use it, but you won’t get any new feature updates and will reach end-of-life in October 2025. If you need to download this app onto a new device via the direct link, feel free!

In the latest version of OneNote, you can not only ink and dictate in the main interface, but there’s also a simplified single line ribbon that makes this app a little less cluttered. The downside is that OneNote for Windows 10 feels lighter and touch-friendly than the latest incarnation.
