If you’re wondering how to create a Gantt chart in Microsoft Outlook, your best bet is to use an add-on that can help you manage and track tasks. Microsoft Planner includes planning features like task lists, but it doesn’t have the ability to draw up a Gantt chart. If you don’t have Project, there are plenty of alternatives you can try, including Edge or Chrome. The good news? You’re not stuck between a rock and a hard place as long as you can use Outlook on the web or desktop.

In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to create Gantt charts for your Microsoft Planner tasks in Google Chrome using Apps4.Pro PlannerGantt, a free trial Chrome extension. We’re using Planner on a Windows 10 64-bit system and Microsoft Edge with this tutorial that should work similarly with other operating systems. Planner comes pre-installed with Microsoft 365.
AdBlock Plus has a wealth of options for blocking pop-ups across countless websites, but we recommend you install the Chrome extension first. If you need more help, that’s also where you’ll find tutorials, troubleshooting tips and how-to videos.
The app offers a radial Gantt charting format, which is pretty neat. You can use a Chrome extension that is available from the Chrome Web Store with any version of Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
If you’re using Edge, the store will prompt you to allow extensions from a store other than Microsoft Store. Once you do, tap Add to Chrome in order for it to continue downloading.

How to access Apps4.Pro PlannerGantt in Edge
Once you’ve signed into your account, access the extension from the Extensions menu. There should be a button for PlannerGantt in the list of apps, as shown in Figure B. Don’t worry; the first time you open the app, it will give you a list of new features. When you’re done, close the window and continue with what you had planned.

You can import your planners using PlannerGantt.
If you want to fire up a new project in Planner, all you have to do is click the “New Project” hub on the top menu. If you’re unsure what day your first task should start, then click on “Manage Tasks” for an in-depth view of the work days. PlannerGantt offers some interesting features that can assist with complex projects

Planner tasks in GanttPlanner are an excellent way to keep track of projects and stay focused on the tasks that matter, but what can you do if you want more flexibility or features? Let’s take a look at how we can make organizing your tasks even better.
With the new project in GanttPlanner, you can stop working on something and switch to another in a snap! With settings, you can create tasks that are more effective at creating a manageable timeline. You’ll find your new project under the Projects heading where the list of tasks is located.
After clicking the ‘Planner settings’ button, you can see in Figure E that some settings are already set based on your Planner settings. At any time, you can change these plans by clicking the ‘Edit Settings’ button shown in Figure F to update the number of hours you plan to spend on this project each day.
GanttPlanner provides you with number of days within a specified time period to complete your task, and in this case, the dates are determined by when the tasks start and end.
To view these settings, first click View (the eye icon) followed by date settings.
GanttPlanner enables you to use Planner settings as the default.

GanttPlanner helps make planning tasks easier by adding child tasks to existing tasks. To add a child task, click the parent task and then click More (the three dots), which will open the more actions. Figure H shows how to enter a child task within the first task’s arrangement. Perhaps the volume of documents is too large for one person to peruse in one day, so you need a way to divide reading up for different days.

You can’t print directly from GanttPlanner, but you’ll be able to export the data set without any problems from here. To do so, click Basic Export (the printer icon) and preview or export the current chart to.pdf, as shown in Figure I.
